In order to actively implement the "Belt and Road Initiative" and promote Chinese traditional culture, on July 22, 2025, the Chinese Folk Dance Art Troupe visited the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China, marking the successful conclusion of the cultural and artistic exchange between the two countries.

The China-Indonesia Cultural and Art Exchange Event was hosted, planned, and fully managed by Zhang Xiao, the head of the Chinese Folk Dance Art Troupe. The event was received by the Indonesian Ambassador to China, and the Indonesian Counsellor to China delivered a welcome speech. The event aimed to promote the development of friendly relations between the two countries, using cultural communication as a bridge to connect China's excellent culture with the cultures of other countries, strengthen deeper understanding between China and other countries, showcase Chinese folk dances, and fulfill the promise of friendship between China and Indonesia.

The Cultural and Artistic Exchange Meeting marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia featured a total of 31 outstanding student representatives, selected from various cities. Among them, 5 outstanding student representatives hailed from Indonesia, while 26 came from China. This event represented a collision and exchange of cultures between the two countries, and also served as a rendezvous for the future successors of both nations.

The event kicked off with a wonderful speech delivered by representatives of outstanding Indonesian students. The entire performance was hosted by two excellent Chinese student representatives, Wu Zhengxuan and Zheng Zixin. The two hosts were energetic and radiant, with sonorous and powerful voices that added vitality to this cultural and artistic exchange between the two countries. The ethnic dance performance began with an excellent opera dance titled "Fenmo Chunqiu". When ink and wash meets graceful dance, when millennia-old opera collides with modern performance, a group of young dancers use their bodies as brushes, unfolding a flowing scroll of oriental beauty through their dance, leaving people in awe.

The live performances at the event were beyond praise. There was the lively and fearless "Nezha" from "The Monkey King", the heroic and powerful "Little Soldier", the untainted and elegant Dunhuang dance "Rising Lotus", and the Tibetan dance "Snowland" that carries a thousand years of faith. It is a treasure bestowed upon the world by the snowy mountains. What was particularly stunning was the Yi dance "Colorful Yi Dress" in colorful and gorgeous attire. Each stitch represents a world, each garment carries a legacy. Dressed in colorful Yi dresses, the Yi people, who chase the sun, shine brightly in all directions.

The 56 ethnic groups are united in heart and the Chinese nation is one big family. The horse is a companion of the Kazakh people. The dance "Black Galloping Horse" transports us to a Kazakh dance party, filled with enthusiasm and joy. Among China's ethnic minorities, there is a group that coexists with water and lives in harmony with nature. Their culture is like a babbling stream, delicate and long-lasting; their dance is like the light green leaves in the tropical rainforest, swaying in the wind, full of vitality. Two young dancers led everyone into the world of the Dai people with a vivid duet "Beautifully Captured in Paint".

In the vast realm of Chinese dance, classical dance and ethnic dance are like two dazzling pearls, each radiating its own unique light. Classical dance centers around form, spirit, strength, and rhythm, pursuing the perfect combination of breath and melody, exhibiting an elegant, subtle, and profound artistic charm. It is like a flowing landscape painting, with every stroke and brushwork embodying the essence of traditional Chinese culture. At the event, the excellent classical works "Embracing the Past and Embracing the Present", "Pretty Flower Girl", "Helping Spring into Dreams", "Ballad of a Small Town", "Eighteen Butterflies", and "Blue and White Porcelain" were performed. The young dancers, with their graceful movements, presented a series of moving pictures that were unforgettable.

The children demonstrated superb dance skills, showcasing their exceptional level and remarkable talent. Their exquisite makeup, delicate costumes, and carefully prepared dance performances earned high praise from the on-site leaders and guests. The Indonesian ambassador to China highly praised and appraised the Chinese students, presented international certificates to the students present, and took a group photo as a souvenir. The Chinese children also presented gifts from their hometowns to the Indonesian Embassy in China, wishing for the friendship between China and Indonesia to last forever.

The guests attending this event also included Mr. Hou Yonglin, a renowned painter from China, and Ms. Wang Li, the president of Jingmo Xuan Calligraphy and Painting Academy and the chairperson of the Women's Calligraphers Association of Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. They presented their own works and wished the friendship between the two countries everlasting. Additionally, Li Tianhao, a flower-presenting messenger from Henan, wore a school uniform and a red scarf, marching confidently as he presented flowers to the ambassador, conveying the most sincere blessings for the friendship between the two countries.

After the dance performance, the Embassy of Indonesia in China presented the students with traditional cultural works of Indonesia. They took the students on a tour of the embassy, and representatives of outstanding Indonesian students patiently explained the significance and origins of the national cultural works to the Chinese students. The Chinese students listened attentively to their explanations with boundless curiosity and respect, and the cultures of the two countries were disseminated through the exchange.

What is national is also global. Traditional Chinese dance is a precious cultural heritage of the Chinese nation, embodying rich cultural connotations and profound spiritual implications. It is not only an art performance form, but also a symbol and representative of the excellent culture of the Chinese nation. It showcases the accumulation of China's 5,000-year civilization and is a treasure of traditional Chinese culture. The successful conclusion of this Sino-Indonesian cultural and artistic exchange meeting is the fruit of hard work and wisdom of every teacher behind it. They are: Chang Fangyuan, Shao Qiaoqing, Yang Qiao, Yuan Yunjia, Xi Yingying, Lu Mengyao, Zhang Xiao, Jiang Qianqian, Zheng Yan, Niu Hongli, Zhao Chenyang, and Xi Haijing (in no particular order). They are the gardeners of our motherland, and I would like to commend all these excellent teachers.

Displaying the dance of the Chinese nation, we are about to embark on a journey of friendship between China and Indonesia. Behind the picturesque performances of the young dancers lies days and years of diligent practice and perseverance. Behind the seemingly effortless dance moves lies the unknown toil and sweat of the dancers. Each dancer has a heart that marches forward bravely, using endless effort and persistence to interpret the graceful dance. We would like to commend the 23 outstanding young dancers who participated in this event: Ji Jinghan, Chen Xuanyi, Guo Feitong, Liang Xinran, Wang Minghan, Bian Yaxuan, Wang Ziqi, Xu Yahan, Zhang Yifei, Shu Xiyan, Ruan Shiting, Bao Jingxin, Lv Linxi, Hu Zizi, Gu Yunhan, Wang Yuexuan, Dong Yufei, Feng Shiyu, Li Yutong, Liu Yinlanyi, Meng Xiangzhe, Li Qingqing, and Geng Duomei (in no particular order). China and Indonesia are good neighbors facing each other across the sea and good partners sharing a common destiny. Seventy-five years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, our friendship is like a shining star. May the friendship between our two countries be as continuous as the waters of the Yangtze River and as long-lasting as the source of the Yellow River. I wish the path of Chinese dance will become broader and broader, serving as a bridge connecting cultural exchanges around the world, so that the path of Chinese dance will shine even more brightly on the international stage.

Wish the friendship between China and Indonesia last forever!
